FEATURED PROJECT
ASCENDER: understanding air at street level
We collaborate with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) on a monitoring system that combines field measurements and technology to study urban air quality.

What does 4sfera contribute?
- Installation and calibration of five sensors at the official monitoring station in Eixample.
- Passive NO₂ sampling campaigns at forty locations in the surrounding area.
- Integration of data with local and cloud-based processing systems to support modelling.
The challenge
Understand the influence of traffic on urban pollution and obtain detailed measurements in a densely populated environment.
The work
Combine sensors, passive sampling and data processing to study how air quality varies across space and over time.
The application
Provide information for air quality models and the development of digital twins designed to support more sustainable urban mobility.
