4sfera supports the Government of Andorra in its duty to inform the public on air quality information in a timely manner. 4sfera manages Andorra’s air quality information platform. Recent tasks include the redevelopment of the public portal www.aire.ad ensuring better intuitive information and improves the data exchange with the European Environment Agency (EEA) through the Air Quality e-Reporting (AQ e-Reporting) system.
The challenge
The Government of Andorra required an updated and reliable platform to:

- Provide real-time and historical air quality information to the public in an accessible and user-friendly way.
- Ensure compliance with European air quality data reporting standards to the EEA, following rules under the Commission Implementing Decision 2011/850/EU.
- Automate data flows and maintain data consistency between the monitoring networks, the national database, and the EEA’s data exchange systems.
The solution
In 2021, 4sfera delivered an integrated solution that includes:

- Redesign and modernisation of the www.aire.ad portal, offering intuitive access to real-time air quality data, improved graphs, alerts on pollution episodes, and links to European air quality forecasts.
- Secure hosting, maintenance, and updates for the web platform and underlying databases, ensuring reliability and data protection.
- Continuous management of data exchange processes with the EEA, covering all mandatory data flows (D, E1a, E2a), using the AQ e-Reporting system and adhering to INSPIRE standards.
- Regular validation of XML data files, ensuring consistency across datasets (sampling points, zones, methods) and successful data transmission through EIONET platforms.
