Support to the European Environment Agency (EEA)

The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union. Our task is to provide sound, independent information on the environment. We are a major information source for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public. Currently, the EEA has 32 member countries.

4sfera gives support to the EEA in the field of air pollution and climate change mitigation through the European Topic Centre for Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation (ETC/ACM). Working closely with the EEA, it provides technical support and management in various tasks related to data exchange and communication of air quality in Europe.

  • Development and consolidation of data exchange

Initially O3, expanding the data exchange to NO2 NOx, PM10, PM2.5...

  • Management of more than 70 data providers

from municipalities and regions to Member States...

  • Close communication with the EEA and data providers

  • Development and maintenance of quality controls

  • Visualisation of air quality data

through EEA’s platforms, Eye-On-Earth, Google Earth ...

Implementing Provisions for Reporting

With the new EU directive on air quality (Directive 2008/50/EC), implementing the new measures on data communication (Implementing Provisions for Reporting - IPR) are the starting point of the transition of current reporting mechanisms for air quality information to a up-to-date, modernise and electronic for the official data reporting and data exchange.

4sfera assists the EEA in the modernisation and streamlining of data exchange systems contributing to the creation and operation of a mechanism to share information with the support of Member States and EIONET countries, according to SEIS principles and INSPIRE Directive.
